W-F School Board approves raises

Employee raises were approved when the Weyauwega-Fremont School Board met on Monday, June 25.
For the 2012-13 school year, the board approved:
• A 10 cent per hour increase for the support staff hourly employees and a 5 cent per hour increase for their years of longevity.
• An additional $325 per employee for the non-union supervisory and non-union support staff.
• An additional $866.25 per employee for the district’s elementary principal, middle/high school principal, director of curriculum/special education and district administrator.
Before each of the three separate votes, Board President Neal Loehrke made a motion to keep the 2012-13 wage schedule the same as the 2011-12 level.
Each of his motions died for a lack of a second.
A year ago, wages were frozen for each of the groups.
Bleck had recommended freezing his salary for the upcoming school year, but the board voted to include him in their action.
Loehrke and Dan Kohl voted against that motion, Jim Stuebs abstained, and Tony Beyer was absent.
Before the end of the meeting, negotiations with the teacher association were set for 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 18.
