The Clippers earned a win over Clintonville on George Huntley Night, Friday, June 22, in New London.
Austin Huntley got the start for the Clippers, pitching his way out of a three-hit first inning jam. He settled in with some good defense behind him and gave up just one more hit the rest of the game. He struck out six as he earned his second George Huntley night victory. He dedicated his win to his great grandmother, Margaret Lathrop, who was George’s mother and just turned 100.
Austin Paisar took the loss for the Diamond Cats, allowing seven runs.
The Clippers were led offensively by Hunter Paul, who was 3×4 with an RBI; Peyton Hofherr, who was 2×4 with 3 RBI; Austin Huntley, who was 2×3 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI; and Nick Wunderlich, who was 1×3 with 1 RBI and 2 runs scored.
Turner Doornink was 2×4 for the Diamond Cats, while Austin Paisar, Kolin Kubitz, Aaron Morse, Paul Kenfield and Jansen Van Daalwyk all had a hit. Defensively, the Diamond Cats struggled, committing numerous errors and essentially giving New London five outs in three separate innings.
10th Annual George Huntley Night
Noal A. Pope was presented with the George Huntley Award for his volunteer efforts to Clippers baseball. Pope has dedicated countless hours to serving the New London Legion Post 263 baseball team. His generosity, friendship and care for the youth of New London were recognized and a plaque was presented to Pope.

The Clippers won a great game Tuesday night in Hatten Stadium on their annual Little League night. The city’s little leaguers and kids came to the park to stand with their favorite Clipper before the game for announcements and national, followed by Jonah Schlueter throwing out the first pitch.
The Clippers took an early lead with a leadoff hit by Ethan Theil, a well executed sacrifice bunt by Nick Wunderlich and an RBI single in the first inning. Kaukauna followed with a run in the fifth, due to a well pitched game from both pitchers.
The Clippers then scored three in the bottom of the fifth and didn’t look back from there.
Matt Ott pitched a complete game to earn the victory, notching five strikeouts and allowing one earned run.
Nick Wunderlich was 1×2 at the plate with an RBI. Hunter Paul was 2×3 with a double and two RBI. Brandon Sullivan and Austin Huntley were also 2×3 on the night.

Adam Weatherwax had seven strikeouts in five innings of work as the Diamond Cats manhandled Shiocton. Weatherwax also hit a triple to help the offense. Austin Paisar was 2×3 with two RBI, while Kolin Kubitz was 2×4 with a triple. Jansen Van Daalwyk was 2×3, and Turner Doornink and Ben Klein each had a hit.
The New London Clippers play at home at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 28, against Seymour. The Clippers will also play at home on Shamrock Night, 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 3.
The Clintonville Diamond Cats have three away games coming up, and will play at home at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 19, against Menominee.
Both the Clippers and the Diamond Cats will play at the New London Tournament July 12-15.
