A section of State Highway 49 between Scandinavia and Waupaca will be closed Monday, July 16, until October.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will replace the bridge that crosses the south branch of the Little Wolf River, located south of the village of Scandinavia,
The new bridge will be two feet higher with six foot shoulders and the approaches will be repaved.
During the construction, State 49 will be closed to traffic at the bridge. Signs will be posted to detour State 49 traffic to U.S. 10, State 22/54, State 22/110 and State 161.
Property owners who have driveways within the project limits will have access to their driveways during construction.
The closure does not begin until after the Iola Old Car Show, set for July 12-15.
The bridge closing will impact traffic for both the Scandinavia Corn Roast, Aug. 3-5, and the Iola Vintage Military Show, Aug. 11-12.
