State 54 project begins in August

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting regarding State Highway 54 construction at 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, at the Farmington Town Hall, located at the corner of State Highway 54 and County QQ.

The project is scheduled to begin Aug. 14 and to be completed in early October.

During construction, State 54 will be closed to through traffic and detoured via Interstate 39 and U.S. Highway 10. State 54 will remain open to local traffic for residents and businesses within the project limits. The surface may not be paved.

Local motorists can expect to encounter flagging operations and some minor delays. Tourists with a destination within the project limits will be able to use the highway. Access will be maintained to Hartman Creek State Park. Signs will be posted.

B.R. Amon and Sons is the prime contractor for the project. Crews will remove four inches of asphalt pavement, pulverize the remaining asphalt into the base, and repave the road and shoulders with asphalt.

Other improvements include replacing the existing signs, pavement marking, and beam guard.
