Peterson, Daniel Warren

Daniel Warren Peterson, age 30, formerly of New London, died unexpectedly as the result of an accident at Denver Health Hospital on Sunday, July 22, 2012 in Denver, CO surrounded by family and many friends. Dan was born on November 23, 1981 to LeRoy and Sandra Peterson of New London, WI. He graduated from New London High School in 2000 and earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications from UW-Milwaukee in 2004. Following graduation Dan resided and worked in Madison, WI for six years. In 2010 Dan moved to Denver, CO. Dan is survived by his parents LeRoy and Sandi; brother Jeff (Phyllis) of Guerneville, CA; sister Laura Gast (Nathan) of Kenosha, WI; and brother Matt (Kristina) of New London, WI; his four nieces: Elizabeth, Emily, Halle, and Finley. He is further survived by his maternal grandmother Luella Lewis, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Dan was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother and grandfather, LaVone and Stan Buss, his maternal grandfather, Wendell Lewis, and his Aunt Colleen Kosiak. Dan will be fondly remembered for his radiant smile, positive energy, sense of humor, empathic and gentle spirit, and zest for adventure. Dan had many passions: nature, music, sports, and politics. He especially enjoyed hiking, biking, snowboarding, camping, and fishing. Dan’s legacy for all was to live each day to the fullest, give to others and make a difference. He continues to do that through his organ donation. We will remember Dan as a loving and devoted son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. A memorial service for Daniel was held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at the First Congregational Church of Christ, 110 E. Hancock St., New London with Pastor Greg Watling officiating. The family received friends at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home on Friday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. where a service of memories was held at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established.
