Antonuk, James Harry

James Harry Antonuk, age 64, of New London, passed away July 31, 2012. Jim was born in Rhinelander on January 20, 1948. He was the son of the late Harry and Jean (Kunz). Jim proudly served his country in the US Navy during Vietnam. He had worked in maintenance type jobs at various places in the Rhinelander area. Jim was an expert on steam engines and talked of this often. He could fix anything and was always learning how things worked. Jim loved tractors, especially John Deere and also loved to read, talk, listen to country music and NPR, tractor hunt, and eat. He had a great sense of humor and a great hardy laugh that would have you and others joining in. Even though Jim’s health had been failing, he still made efforts to help people with his wide knowledge base of all things mechanical. Jim is survived by three siblings, Cindy ONeil, Sparta, WI; Larry Antonuk, New Hampshire; and Connie Antonuk, McNaughton, WI. He is also survived by 5 children: Joel James Jolin, Rebecca Fredericks, Patricia OMarro-Gould, Casey Antonuk and Adam Antonuk; 5 grandchildren: Brook, Jack, Seth, Nicholaus, Jonathon. Jim will be greatly missed by those who knew him, especially special friends, Rosalind and Samuel Severson. We will miss everything about him. He was preceded in death by a sister Trudy. Special thank you to the Fresenius dialysis staff of Waupaca for the wonderful care and friendship they provided Jim and to Dan Mercer, the staff and family of Chatham Apartments at Washington Center, New London for the friendship they showed Jim and going above and beyond in caring for Jim. Jim will be cremated and buried at The Wisconsin Veterans Home in King. Memorial is pending at this time.
