Kneser, Wayne M.

Wayne M. Kneser, was born to eternal life on Sat. Aug. 11, 2012 at the age of 82 yrs. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Gloria (nee Bartel). Father of Tom (Sharon) Kneser, Jeff (Carolann) Kneser, Hollie (Ron) Borck, Rick (Linda) Kneser, Greg (Sandy Kimmes) Kneser, and Pam (Paul) Henne. Grandfather of Joshua, Bethany, Jacob (Krystal), Lucas (Katie), Sara, Matthew, Katie Beth, Christine, Brian, Amelia, Wylie, Trevor and Allison. Great-grandfather of Aurelia and Kaeden. Brother of Clarence and Ken (Janet) Kneser. Brother-in-law of Beverly Olson. He was preceded in death by his brother Lloyd and sisters Elaine Marquardt and Ruby Sikorski. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Wayne was born and raised in Greenfield, WI, confirmed at Gethsemane Lutheran Church and graduated from Pulaski High School. He served with the US Army in Korea during the Korean conflict. Upon his return in 1953 he married Gloria and began to raise a family of six children, at the same time started a lifetime of service to his church and his community. Wayne served in many capacities for his churches in Milwaukee and New London, WI and was a member in several area wide Lutheran organizations, including the Milwaukee Federation of WELS churches and as a founding member of the College Board of Wisconsin Lutheran College. Wayne was also a well known businessman in community, spending over 30 years with Drews Variety Stores in Hales Corners and other locations, later as owner with Gloria of the New London Trophy and Craft store, where he was an active member in the Chamber of Commerce. A member of the Lions Club in Hales Corners and New London for over 50 years, he served in various positions including president of both chapters, and humanitarian service. Wayne always found time to be the number one fan of his children in their various activities, often serving as coach for softball and basketball teams, and was always ready to hand out the Jolly Ranchers afterward. Special thanks to the staffs at Luther Haven, Wisconsin Lutheran Living Center and the Vitas Hospice at the Lutheran Home for their support during Wayne’s final days and also to Pastor Papenfuss of Risen Savior Lutheran Church. Visitation was held Wed. Aug. 15, from 5-8pm at Heritage Funeral Home and today, Thurs. 10-11am at Savior Ev. Lutheran Church, 9550 W. Brown Deer Rd. followed by the funeral services at 11 am. Private interment Caledonia Memorial Park, Caledonia, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials to any WELS Mission or Educational agency, appreciated.
