Conroy (Maloney), Joan E.

Joan E. Conroy, 76 passed away on August 21, 2012, at Saint Joseph’s Residence in New London, Wisconsin. She was born on July 4, 1936, daughter of the late Madeline (Gavin) and Arthur Maloney in Green Bay, WI. After graduation Joan had moved to New York City to work with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She returned to Wisconsin a few years later as she missed the grass and trees and her beloved Green Bay Packers. Joan worked in the Wisconsin Governor’s Office under Governor John Reynolds until she was united in marriage to Patrick H. Conroy on April 22, 1967. Joan and Patrick worked and raised their family at Bear Lake Campground & Resort in Manawa. Her husband Patrick preceded her in death on April 8, 1990. Retiring in 1996 Joan became the official Bear Lake Social Director driving around in her golf cart making sure everyone was having a good time. Survivors include her children: Colleen (Bruce) Conroy-Roemer, Molly (Steve) Joosten, Bridget (Joe) Conroy-Bailey, and Ryan (Emily Doud) Conroy. Granddaughters: Katie Ganzel, Makenzie Roemer, and Madeline Roemer along with her great-granddaughter; Haidynn Roemer. Her in-laws: Robert and Mary Conroy, Audry Maloney. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and her camping families. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers, Larry Maloney, John Maloney, and Jerome Maloney and sisters: Rosemary Lee and Kathleen “Tink” Duffy. Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at Sacred Heart Parish, Manawa at 11:00 AM. Visitation was held on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Manawa from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of service. Family and friends were invited to celebrate her life following the service on Wednesday at Bear Lake Campground & Resort. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Saint Joseph’s Residence and Heartland Hospice.
