Flanagan, Eleanor M.

Eleanor M. Flanagan, age 90 of New London, died at Trinity Terrace in New London on Saturday, September 08, 2012. Eleanor was born May 30, 1922, in Maple Creek, daughter of the late James R. and Ann (McClone) Johnson. She graduated from Shiocton High School in 1940. On June 1, 1949, she married Gerard (Jerry) Flanagan at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bear Creek. Jerry and Eleanor lived in the Bear Creek area until 1993 when they moved to New London. She was a member of Most Precious Blood Parish, New London. Eleanor is survived by four daughters: Ann Therese (Ken) Kuick, Pewaukee, WI; Mary (Steve) Hanadel, New London; Judy (Craig) Pluta, Pewaukee,WI; and Geralyn (Doug) McDonald, Plymouth, MN; seven loving grandchildren: Trisha (Max) Krenke; Karen (fiance, Brian Edmonson) Hanadel; Megan, Carrie and Kelli Pluta; Mark and Janelle McDonald; as well as one great-granddaughter, Liberty Krenke. She is further survived by one brother, Loy (Joan) Johnson, New London; sisters-in-law: Mrs. James (Naomi) Johnson, Green Bay; Mrs. Pat (Helen) Mares, Appleton; Mrs. Tom (Eileen) Flanagan, New London; and one brother-in-law, Paul (Mary) Flanagan, Bear Creek. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry, on Dec.1, 1999 following 50 years of marriage; four infant children; one sister, Anna Marie Lehman; three brothers: Leo Johnson; Rev. James Merlin Johnson, O.Praem; and Jim Johnson, Jr.; sisters-in-law: Patricia (Flanagan) Campbell; Marian Flanagan; Trudie Flanagan; Priscilla Flanagan and Hazel Flanagan; and brothers-in-law: Gordon Lehman; Clifford Flanagan; Edward Flanagan; Lt. James Flanagan; Tom Flanagan and Pat Mares. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 14, 2012, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Bishop Robert Morneau and Father Brian Prunty, O Praem officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bear Creek. Visitation will be held at Cline and Hanson Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again directly at the church Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
