Harvest Moon Festival at Mosquito Hill

Celebrate autumns arrival and the fall harvest at the 10th Annual Harvest Moon Festival on Saturday, September 29 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Mosquito Hill Nature Center.

“The theme of this year’s event is The Night Comes Alive,” said Mosquito Hill director Mike Hibbard. “We have some great programs scheduled featuring bats and birds of prey, telescopes will be pointed at the full moon as it rises over Mosquito Hill, and our ever popular hayrides are scheduled again.”

Other popular activities include Animal Olympics, a daytime pumpkin walk, an after-dark lighted jack-o-lantern walk, astronomy programs and stargazing with the Northeast Wisconsin Stargazers group. Live music sponsored by Green Apple Folk Music Society will be featured all day. S’mores around the campfire, a pumpkin-seed spitting contest and other outdoor games, and food sales will also be available. Families with young children will be able to enjoy all of the activities without having to keep young ones up too late.

Admission is $8 per car. Hayride tickets are $1 each and may only be purchased the day of the event. Hayrides may be cancelled in the event of inclement weather.
