Migel, Edward John

Edward John Migel, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, Wi. Edward was born on April 20, 1926, New Hope, WI, son of Frank and Helen Migel. He is survived by his son Terry and daughters Debra and Michelle living on Waupaca, son Ron living in Algonquin, IL and brother Edwin Migel in Abrams, WI. His daughters Malita and Laura, and his siblings Ann (Migel) Green, Marion (MIgel) Sakowski, Susan (Felix) Gutowski, and Ben Migel preceded him in death, as did Margaret Karos, his first wife and mother of his children. He was also briefly married to Judy Meyers, whom he divorced in 1980. Edward was stationed in the Philippines from May, 1946 to November, 1947 during his service in the US Army as a Private First Class. He lived much of his adult life in Chicago, where he worked at Associated Springs Corporation before moving to Iola, WI in 1976. He attended Mid-State Technical School, worked two years at the Meals-On-Wheels program in Stevens Point, and ran his own business as a talented wood-worker, building beautiful furniture and crafting tools for specialized wood projects. Edward spent several happy years with close friend Virginia Krogwold, who passed on in 1998. He especially enjoyed entertaining family and friends by playing polkas on his accordion and collecting ornate ceramic tea pots. Ed spent his last 5 years under the watchful care of staff at the King Veterans Home, where his nephew Lance Green provided assistance as his guardian. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, September 21, 2012 at Edward’s church, NORTH NEW HOPE LUTHERAN CHURCH located at the junction of County Highway MM and 845 County Road T in the Town of New Hope. Visitation starts at 10 am, with service at noon and burial at the adjacent cemetery, followed by lunch in the church at 1pm. Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
