Strange happenings at Schutt Industries

Schutt Industries sent workers home on Tuesday, Sept. 25, after federal officials showed up at the Clintonville plant. The reason for the visit remains unknown.

Calls to Clintonville Police Chief Terry Lorge have not been returned as of noon Wednesday, Sept. 26. City Administrator Lisa Kuss had no comment. Calls to Schutt Industries were not answered. An explanation on the events taking place at Schutt since Sept. 25 has not yet been provided.

It has been reported that some employees were visited at home hours before Schutt opened for business on Tuesday, and were interviewed by the Defense Criminal Investigative Service, which is a law enforcement arm within the Department of Defense. Other media reports indicate that boxes and computers were loaded into vehicles.

Schutt was established in Clintonville in 1998. The company produces military trailers and custom-engineered ground systems. Since late April of 2010, Schutt has secured delivery orders and competitive bids from the US Military worth over $100 million.
