Memorial benefit to be held Oct. 6

The life of David Free Byrd will be celebrated on Saturday, Oct. 6 during two separate benefits.

The first – a benefit brat fry at Mama Z’s Bakery and Java Hut at N2826 County Trunk QQ in King – will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

It will feature brats, hamburgers, hot dogs, ice cream, nachos, popcorn, soda and water.

In addition, there will be raffles, including raffle baskets. Winners do not need to be present, and raffle tickets may be purchased ahead of time.

All proceeds will benefit the Byrd family.

The second benefit will be a benefit memorial concert from 2 p.m. to midnight, at the Best Western Hotel, 110 Grand Seasons Drive.

Byrd passed away on Aug. 24 as the result of injuries received in a moped accident.

The 33 year old was the owner of Aquatic Life in downtown Waupaca, and this benefit will begin at 2 p.m. with an open forum in which people may share stories and memories of him.

From 5 p.m. to midnight, there will be music, a silent auction, a bake sale, shirts and food.

Music will be provided by Jack of Trades, Dale Dobbee and Silenze.

The proceeds will be used to cover funeral expenses and to raise money for a headstone.
