A blue spotted salamander was recently photographed at Arbor View Gardens near Embarrass.
“We removed a huge rotted boxelder stump from near the rock garden only to discover the stump was this guy’s house,” explained Andy Gleisner. “Seeing the salamander exposed without a home had us wishing we could take back the decision to destroy the stump. All we could do was place the salamander on alternate rotting driftwood and hope the new home accommodates its survival.”
The blue spotted salamander’s habitat is in this area, but it is uncommon to find them.
