Another step closer to new town hall

The Farmington Town Board voted to shift $200,000 from other funds into the fund designated for building a new town hall.

In August, the town board voted in favor of purchasing 10.5 acres located across State Highway 54 from the existing town hall. Part of the parcel will be used for a new town hall to be built next year.

At a town board meeting Tuesday, Oct. 16, the town board agreed to take $100,000 from an undesignated fund balance and $100,000 of funds previously committed to roads and place that amount into an account committed to building a new town hall.

After the transfer, $100,000 will remain committed to roads in Farmington.

Farmington has now set aside mofe than $800,000 for the new town hall.

The town board plans to build the new town hall without any bonding.

Farmington’s current fund balance exceeds $1.23 million.
