Cross country team competes at Conference

The Clintonville High School Cross Country team traveled to the Tuscumbia Golf Course in Green Lake to compete in the WIAA Eastern Valley Conference. Steady rain, wind gusts, and poor footing ruled the day on Saturday, Oct. 13.

The boys team was led by Jacob Decleene with a varsity finish of 15th, making third team All-Conference. He narrowly missed being named to the second team.

Decleene was followed by JV boys Kaleb Hatfield and Noah Hartleben.

The Clintonville varsity girls were led by Samantha Hohn with a fourth place finish, making first team All-Conference. Hohn was followed by Sara Messner at eighth place, making second team All-Conference and Brianna Gretzinger at 20th place, making third team All-Conference.

Rounding out the varsity girls were Allison Johnson (22nd), Ana Huber (24th) and Jessica Petruzates (26th).

JV girls Danielle Kiefer and Aubrey Netzel ran well despite the weather and course conditions.

The Trucker girls’ team placed third behind Little Chute (2nd) and Freedom (1st).

For the JV team, the Conference race was the end of the season. or the varsity team, the focus has shifted to Sectionals.

Clintonville will be competing with Abbotsford, Colby, Fox Valley Lutheran, Freedom, Lakeland, Little Chute, Marinette, Medford Area, Mosinee, Northand Pines, Oconto Falls, Peshtigo, Seymour, Tomahawk, Waupaca, and Wittenberg-Birnamwood on Saturday, Oct. 20, in Waupaca.
