Waupaca area residents dropped off 42,000 pounds of unwanted electronics and appliances during the city’s e-waste recycling day Saturday, Oct. 6.
Televisions and computer monitors accounted for more than one-third of total weight of the items collected. Because the amount became unmanageable, the city stopped accepting TVs and monitors at 12:15 p.m. R3new of Appleton will recycle the items.
Joshua Werner, the city’s IT and communications specialist who organized the event, said the city anticipates holding another e-waste recycling day in the spring.
