New London United Way kicks off campaign

The United Way of New London is kicking off their annual campaign, and they are looking for help from local residents.

The trademark phrase from United Way is “Live United”. Local organizers are rallying behind this concept and have pointed out that donations to the United Way helps to provide a Big Brother or Big Sister for a New London child.

Donations also help to give a New London mom or dad a chance to go back to school for training that allows them a better life for their family, or it may support public transportation for an elderly lifelong resident of New London.

Youth basball and softball leagues in the area are also supported by donations from individuals and businesses in the community, as well as the United Way.

There are 25 different organizations that receive contributions provided by the United Way of New London. Anyone interested in making a tax deductible donation can visit www.unitedway.org.

With help from area residents, the United Way of New London was able to allocate $91,662 to local organizations in 2012. Organizers are asking members of the public to join them again this year in supporting the community by making a donation. For additional information, visit the United Way of New London on Facebook.
