Mihna, Stephen J. and Joyce L.

Stephen J. and Joyce L. Mihna, ages 86 and 84 respectively, of Waupaca, Wisconsin, died unexpectedly on Friday, November 16, 2012, as the result of an automobile accident.

Stephen was born on December 26, 1925, in Minneapolis, MN the son of the late Michael and Apolonia (Kosa) Mihna. At the age of five, his family moved to Wisconsin, where they cleared trees to build a home. At the age of eighteen, Stephen enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for three and a half years. Following his service, he moved to Neenah, WI where he was employed by Banta’s for 36 years. He enjoyed hobby farming and deer hunting.

Joyce was born on April, 20, 1928, in Neenah, WI the daughter of the late Walter and Elsie (Schoenian) Grunske. Following her marriage to Steve in 1950, Joyce worked as a caregiver at Bethany Home for fifteen years and then another consecutive eighteen years at Lakeview Manor. Joyce loved horses, her flower garden, reading books, knitting and cooking.

Stephen and Joyce were members of Bethel Lutheran Church in Menasha for thirteen years and then when moving to Waupaca, became members of St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Weyauwega. They were current church members of over 40 years. Stephen and Joyce are survived by their children, Chistopher (Gloria) Mihna, William (Judy) Mihna, Theodore Mihna, Julie (John Fossum) Nollenberg, and Philip (Jeri) Mihna; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, brothers, many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. They are preceded in death by parents, an infant daughter Mary, granddaughter Susan Mihna, great-grandson Keegan Hansen. The Christian Funerals for Stephen and Joyce will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Weyauwega with Rev. Dennis Lemke and Rev. Newlin Schafer officiating. A visitation for Stephen and Joyce will be held directly at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Thank the Lord for all His goodness.
