Marines top Bulldogs

The Marinette Marines hung with the New London Bulldog boys varsity basketball team throughout the game and snuck away with a 49-44 win on Tuesday, Nov. 27.

Marinette made 20 of 46 shots from the field (43.5 percent) while the Bulldogs made 17 of 47 (36.2 percent). New London made three of 16 shots from 3-point range, while Marinette made just one of 14.

Marinette made six of 10 free throws, while New London made seven of 13 tries from the charity stripe.

Marinette outrebounded New London 27-25, and the Marines had eight assists to New London’s six.

Chris Steingraber led New London with 12 points and nine rebounds, while Jake Pinch scored nine and Ryan Wolf added eight.

Luke Listle tallied five points, while Devon Garbers and Maurice Williams both scored four. Caleb Chmielewski added two points.

Waupaca 79, New London 75

The Bulldogs lost a shooting match with the Comets despite a hot start.

New London led 25-12 after one quarter and 42-37 at halftime, but couldn’t hold the lead in the second half.

Waupaca outscored New London 21-15 in the third quarter and 21-18 in the fourth quarter to earn the win.

Steingraber led the Bulldogs with 17 points, while Luke Listle scored 14, Ryan Wolf had 13, Jake Pinch scored 13, Devon Garbers netted eight, Caleb Chmielewski tallied five, jake Thomas scored two, and Hunter Sullivan netted three.

The Bulldogs play at home at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14.
