New scoreboards in place

Weyauwega-Fremont High School has a new scoreboard system in place.

Local businesses and the Weyauwega-Fremont Booster Club teamed up to purchase two new scoreboards recently installed in the school’s gym.

“When I became the athletic director two years ago, I noticed that our scoreboard panels would sometimes be in the wrong positions due to a phy ed class that would have a dodgeball go awry,” W-F athletic director Jeff Fahser said. “To fix the problem was not difficult, but it still took time and our scoreboards were aging. They have been here, I believe, since 1969, when the school went up.”

TLC Sign of Weyauwega installed the boards Nov. 8.

“In order to get the scoreboards up and ready to go by this sports season, we sought out donations from our local banks and booster club,” Fahser said. “With their generous support and a quick turnaround time by TLC Sign to get the boards up, we now have a better and brighter look to our gymnasium.”

Cathie Smith of Farmers State Bank, Heather Ebert of First National Bank and booster club members Tom and Tammy Chase were on hand Dec. 7 during to be recognized before a boys’ basketball game. Premier Community Bank and TLC Sign also contributed to the project.
