Defense is apparently a strength of the Amherst girls’ basketball team.
The Falcons held Iola-Scandinavia to 12 points Dec. 14 in a 66-12 Central Wisconsin 8 Conference win over the Thunderbirds. I-S also fell to Shiocton 54-26 Dec. 11.

AMHERST – Amherst outscored the T-Birds 22-3 in the first quarter alone and eventually built a 35-3 halftime lead.
The Falcons also had a 15-5 advantage in the third quarter and a 16-4 advantage over the final eight minutes.
Brooke Phillips led I-S with seven points, while Amherst’s Jaimee Pitt led the Falcons with 21.
Shiocton 54, I-S 26
IOLA – Shiocton led 6-5 after one quarter, 23-12 at halftime and 39-17 after three quarters.
Jane Oligney led the T-Birds with eight points, while Natalie Gauerke added seven. Jonalee Elliot led Shiocton with 12.
The T-Birds hosted Wisconsin Valley Lutheran Dec. 18 and will play at Marion today (Thursday, Dec. 20).
