New London to purchase new squad cars

During the New London city council meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 11, the council approved the purchase of two new police vehicles, the purchase of two heating and ventilation units, as well as repairs to the city’s street sweeper.

The two new police vehicles that were approved for purchase will be in the amount of $58,688. Police Chief Jeffrey Schlueter reviewed the request at the Capital Equipment & Projects Committee meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 14. The committee unanimously recommended the purchase, and council unanimously approved the purchase. Tom O’Connell was absent.

The council also approved the purchase of two heating and ventilation units for the municipal building. The amount will be $12,600.

The council approved that the fire chief be allowed to bid on a used water tanker. The approval gives the fire chief the authority to bid up to $22,001.

The repairs to the 2002 TYMCO 600 Street Sweeper in the amount of $25,000-$45,000 was also approved unanimously.

Funding in the amount of $15,000 for the Downtown Façade Program was also approved.

In other business, the council approved the assignment of the Development Agreement for the Wolf River Lumber business to Welter Forest Products, Inc.
