Although I-S had the home court advantage, the Wolves returned home with a 37-36 Central Wisconsin 8 Conference win.
Manawa led 7-6 after one quarter, but the Thunderbirds took a 21-16 lead into halftime after outscoring the visitors 15-9 in the second quarter.
Manawa’s comeback started with an 11-8 advantage in the third quarter, but the Wolves still trailed 29-27 heading into the final quarter. The Wolves then outscored the home team 10-7 in the final period to get the win.
Brooke Phillips and Jane Oligney led the T-Birds with 14 and 12 points, respectively, while Emily Sether pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds and Kylie Johnson chipped in with four assists and a pair of steals.
The T-Birds took on Weyauwega-Fremont Jan. 8 and will host Bonduel at 7:30 tonight (Thursday, Jan. 10) before hosting Auburndale in a nonconference game Jan. 15.
