Kira Minehart, of Waupaca, was one of more than 100 people who showed up at Becker Marine New Year’s Day for the 21st annual Chain O’ Lakes Polar Bear Plunge.
This year’s event, organized by the Wheelhouse Restaurant, again raised funds for the Waupaca Fire Department. The public had a chance to donate to their favorite firefighter and the top two, Jerry Deuman and Kim Nelson, ended up taking the plunge with the others.
Proceeds from the event will support the department and help upgrade its equipment.
