The members of the local councils of the Wisconsin State Knights of Columbus are currently selling raffle tickets for its 2013 Statewide Charity Raffle. The value of the 50 prizes to be awarded totals $135,000 and includes the following:
1st: $50,000 cash
2nd: a 20103 FLHX Harley Street Glide Motorcycle, or $25,000 cash
3rd: 15,000 cash
4th: $10,000 cash
5th: $4,000 cash
6th thru 22nd: $1,000 cash
23rd thru 50th: $500 cash
This is the largest raffle in the State of Wisconsin with a $5 ticket price. The drawing will take place at the Knights of Columbus State Convention at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells on Saturday April 27, 2013.
The proceeds from this raffle are used to alleviate sorrow, ease financial burdens and restore hope to families and victims of accidents and illness. The proceeds are divided between the local councils selling tickets and the State Council. State proceeds include funds for scholarships for students attending school to work with the disabled among many other uses. Local councils are able to use their own funds and also can apply to the State Council for additional funding.
Msgr. Loerke Council No. 1922 of Clintonville in the past has used the funds generated from this raffle to assist area accident victims, to build a ramp needed for a person in a wheelchair, to assist a family who experienced a house fire, a family who needed help paying medical bills for one of the children in the family, an area family whose father needed a kidney transplant as well as a variety of other local programs and activities.
