Library to hold Food for Fines Week

The Waupaca Area Public Library is offering patrons a chance to clear fines during a food drive, being held Jan. 28 through Feb 2.

“We will accept non-perishable food items in lieu of cash to pay overdue fees,” said Library Director Peg Burington.

For each item donated, the library will waive $1 from patrons’ accounts.

All donations, which must be in cans or sealed boxes, will be given to the Waupaca Area Food Pantry.

Organizers at the food pantry have identified a specific need for crackers, peanut butter, toilet paper, baked beans, baking items, soups, ketchup, mustard, salad dressings and other condiments.

Donated food applies only to fines, not toward lost or damaged materials.

More information is available at the library, located at 107 S. Main St., online at www.waupacalibrary.org or by calling 715-258-4414.
