Mikaila Johnson scored a game-high 18 points and Morgan Smith added 11 as the Waupaca girls’ basketball team handed Winneconne a 50-32 Eastern Valley Conference defeat Jan. 29.
Waupaca led 13-5 after one quarter, 20-9 at halftime and 38-21 after three quarters before outscoring the visitors 12-11 over the final eight minutes.
Holly Van Dam led Winneconne with 10 points.
The Comets will host Berlin at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, in another EVC matchup and will then be off until Freedom heads to Waupaca Tuesday, Feb. 12.
