Five-year-old Clara Voss is counting down the days and already has her rodeo tickets for the 55th Mid-Western Rodeo, July 4-6.
Voss’ picture won the rodeo coloring contest for the 5 year and under age group. Her prize – two adult and two children’s tickets to the rodeo held in Manawa. Her one year old sister Cora doesn’t need a ticket so Voss plans to invite a friend to the rodeo, where she hopes to ride the mechanical bull.
Voss, daughter of Andy and Nikki Voss of New London, attends kindergarten at Sugar Bush Elementary School. Her favorite rodeo event is barrel racing because she loves horses.
She received an unforgettable surprise gift for her “golden birthday” on Sept. 5. A family friend brought her horse “Woody” to the birthday party and gave rides to Voss and all of her friends. Not having a real horse doesn’t deter Voss’ hopes of being a barrel racer when she gets older. Until then she enjoys riding her uncle Tim’s horse Sonny and playing with her collection of 80 plastic horses.
Family packs of rodeo tickets were also awarded to, 11-year-old Grace Besaw, New London – winner of the 9-11 year old group and 8-year-old Colton Westby, Shiocton, 6-8 year old group winner.
