Wisconsin’s party of Scrooges targets ‘takers’

Assemblyman Kevin Petersen’s recent e-press reads like Dickens’ Scrooge: “Harumph! Are there no poorhouses?”

According to Uncle Scrooge Walker there are 75,000 “takers” in Wisconsin.

That’s about 1.5 percent of the state’s population. Rather than continuing their access to our over-abundant food supply, Petersen and the other Walker Republicans would shut these people out to starve.

Petersen is saying there are 750 able bodied adults who are “taker” in Waupaca County. These people who currently exploit FoodShare ought to buckle down, shape up, suck it in and get a grip on Walker’s notion of theirAmerican dream. Otherwise they should starve.

Petersen claims he’s honored–made humble–to represent the interests of all residents of the 40th Assembly District. He claims he’s not “just an agent for the interests of state government.” He then recites his Republican governor’s FoodShare policy: shape up or starve.

Really!
