Lady Wolves aim for conference title

With eight returning letter winners, the Lady Wolves softball team is gunning for a conference title and an extended post season.

Todd Zielke is in his second year coaching the team. Last year, the Lady Wolves posted a 6-8 conference record and 12-13 overall record.

Returning letter winners include senior pitcher Ansley Block, senior catcher Katelyn Langman, senior second baseman Megan O’Brien, senior left fielder Wendy Kons, junior short stop Lexie Sell, junior first baseman Baylee Gorges, junior first baseman/outfielder Jordyn Sactien, and sophomore third baseman/outfielder Katie Velie.

Other varsity candidates include sophomores Aubrie Millard and Sam Johnson, as well as freshman Mckenzie Zielke.

The Lady Wolves lost letter winners Kali Draeger, Krista Braun, and Kim Retzke to graduation last year.

“With Ansley Block being possibly the strongest pitcher in the conference, and a strong starting group of girls behind her, we are looking to make a push for a conference title, and be a strong contender in the playoffs,” said Zielke. “Once again we have a strong conference with Weyauwega, Pacelli, iola and Amherst being strong. It will take total focus by my team to try to earn the title.”
