Hillskotter, Wendell Owen

Wendell Owen Hillskotter, age 72, of Weyauwega, passed away April 14, 2013, with family by his side.

Wendell was born on April 7, 1941, in Osceola, WI, to Herman and Isabelle Hillskotter. Wendell graduated from Osceola High School in 1959 and from the University of Wisconsin – River Falls in 1963. He continued his education to receive his Master’s Degree in Vocational Agriculture. He taught Agricultural Science in Greenfield, Iowa for two years before accepting a position at Weyauwega High School where he taught for 17 years. He then taught at Fox Valley Technical College until he retired in 1999. Wendell was an avid outdoor sportsman. He loved hunting and fishing and shared that passion through teaching hundreds of young people Hunter’s Safety for over 30 years. He stopped only after his youngest grandchild had completed the course. Family was a very important part of Wendell’s life. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother who enjoyed spending holidays and special events with his relatives.

Wendell is survived by his wife, Kay Hillskotter; mother, Isabelle Hillskotter; mother-in-law, Bernice Demulling; daughter, Lorri (Jim) Malone; sons, Doug (Brenda) Hillskotter and Randy (Vickie) Hillskotter. Wendell is also survived by eight grandchildren: Josh, Tony, Rod, Chris, Corey, Jessica, Elizabeth, and Nicole; his great-granddaughter Angeline; his brother, Dennis (Colleen) Hillskotter, and his two sisters, Nancy (Rod) Swanson, and Sheila (Larry) Rixmann, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Hillskotter; father-in-law, Orville Demulling, and his grandson, Andrew Hillskotter.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 107 Tustin Road, Fremont, WI, with Pastor Stephen Pope officiating. A time of visitation will be held at Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home, 200 South Mill Street, Weyauwega, WI, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday April 17, 2013, and again at 9:30 a.m. at the church preceding the service. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery, in Weyauwega at 1:30 p.m.
