Strikeouts hurt Indians

Thirteen strikeouts hurt the Weyauwega-Fremont baseball team April 22 in an 8-3 Central Wisconsin 8 Conference loss to Amherst.

Thirteen strikeouts hurt the Weyauwega-Fremont baseball team April 22 in an 8-3 Central Wisconsin 8 Conference loss to Amherst.

The Indians also picked up a pair of recent wins over Shiocton and Oshkosh Lourdes.

Amherst 8, W-F 3

Connor Zblewski drove in four runs to help lead the Falcons over the Indians.

Ten of the game’s 11 runs came in the first three innings. Each team scored once in the first, but Amherst came up with four in the second and two in the third before W-F answered with two runs in the bottom of the third to make it 7-3. The Falcons tacked on an insurance run in the sixth.

Corbin Billington and Adam Krause each had two of Weyauwega-Fremont’s seven hits and each drove in a run.

Ryan McCuskey got the win for Amherst, while Billington took the loss.

W-F 6, Shiocton 5

The Indians knocked off the Chiefs April 20 in a rescheduled CWC-8 game.

W-F 18, Lourdes 15

W-F took advantage of 14 walks and eight Lourdes errors and scored in each of the first five innings.

Lourdes outhit the Indians 15-8, but W-F came up with six runs in the second, four in the fourth, three in the first and fifth and two in the third.

Lourdes scored six times in the top of the fifth to tie the game at 15-15 before the Indians tacked on three more runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Tyler Hart had two hits for the Indians.
