W-F boys, girls win in Plainfield

Weyauwega-Fremont’s boys’ and girls’ track teams returned home April 22 with first-place finishes from the Plainfield Tri-County Invitational.

The boys and girls also placed first and second, respectively, April 16, at a CWC meet on their home track.

PLAINFIELD – W-F’s first-place finishes for the boys were Corey Zeutzius in the 800- and 1,600-meter runs ( 2:09.5 and 4:50.2);

Bryce Behn in the high and triple jumps (6 feet and 39 feet, 8 1/2 inches); Luke Rohloff in the 110-meter hurdles (15.5); Logan Erdmann in the 100-meter dash (11.8); Nick Thomas in the 400-meter dash (56.4); 400-meter relay team of Erdmann, Trevor Fitzpatrick, Carl Koch and Dustin Hanes (46.8); 800-meter relay team of Dan Crist, Mason Osman, Koch and Corey Schmidt (1.43.2); 1,600-meter relay team of Zeutzius, Hanes, Travis Ristau and Rohloff (3:48.7); and 3,200-meter relay team of Ristau, Logan Kobiske, Brandon Hanes and Behn (9:42.7).

Firsts for the girls went to Caragan Volz in the 1,600 and triple jump (5:58.4 and 32 feet, 3 inches); Aysia Schroeder in the 100-meter hurdles (18.9); Megan Young in the 400 (1:07.6); Alyse Peters in the 3,200-meter run (13:15.6); Mikaela Hintz in the long jump (13 feet, 1/2 inch); Liz Abhold in the shot put (35 feet, 4 1/2 inches); 1,600 relay team of Danielle Austreng, Jane Beyer, Hintz and Volz (4:39); and 3,200 relay team of Beyer, Paige Kempf, Sarah Fields and Desiree Roe (12:34).

WEYAUWEGA – Firsts for the W-F boys went to Rohloff in the 110 and 300 hurdles (18.3 and 45.4); Erdmann in the 100 (11.8);

Tanner Ross in the high jump (5 feet, 10 inches); Behn in the triple jump (39 feet, 7 inches): the 400 relay team of Erdmann, Brandon Colligan, Osman and Dustin Hanes (48.0); and the 3,200 relay team of Thomas, Behn, Kobiske and Zeutzius ((9:04.5).

Firsts for the W-F girls went to Abhold in the shot put and discus (38 feet, 7 1/2 inches and 104 feet, 2 inches); and the 3,200 relay team of Peters, Beyer, Amy Hingeveld and Volz (11:08.8).

The Iola-Scandinavia boys and girls each placed eighth at the meet.

The Thunderbird boys’ 800 relay team of Matt Matheny, Devin Paulson, Tanner Krusa and Dylan Robbins placed first with a time of 1:38.7, while Shelby Trzebiatowski won the girls’ 800 and 1,600 runs with times of 2:33.4 and 5:51.9.

Both teams will head to New London Saturday, April 27, for the annual Waupaca County Meet. Teams from Waupaca, Manawa, Clintonville, New London and Marion will also compete, with events scheduled to get under way at 9:30 a.m.
