Fox Sr., James

James “Jim” Warren Fox Sr., age 62 of rural Colfax, died unexpectedly on Wednesday April 24, 2013 at his home in the Township of Tainter, Dunn County.

Jim was born March 31, 1951 in Durand, Wisconsin. He was the son of Warren and Agnes (Ryan) Fox. Jim grew up on the family farm near Elmwood and graduated from Elmwood High School in 1969 and from C.V.T.C. in Eau Claire with a degree in Business and Marketing in 1971. Jim married Diane Lynn Smeltzer on October 14, 1972 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Menomonie. For the past 35 years Jim was a salesman for various farm implement dealers in Menomonie, Hudson, Michigan and Waupaca Wisconsin. Jim’s passion was riding motorcycle and taking yearly trips with the Mild Hog Motorcycle Riders, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends.

Jim is survived by his wife, Diane, three children, James Jr. (Noelle) of Crystal Lake, IL; Bradley (Meghan) of Ixonia; Stephanie Fox (Shane Konop) of St. Paul, MN; three grandchildren, Laurel, Esther, and Sidney Fox; a sister, Mary Jo (Mike) Coffey of Altoona; a brother, Warren (Shari) Fox of Ellsworth; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, uncle, Bill Fox; nephew, Bryce Smeltzer and father-in-law, Bill Smeltzer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday April 27, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Menomonie with Rev. Thomas Krieg officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Menomonie and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
