Waupaca’s boys’ golf team edged Ripon by one shot May 13 to win a five-team Eastern Valley Conference meet at Clintonville’s Riverside Golf Club.
The Comets also placed third May 9 at an EVC meet at Neenah’s Ridgeway Golf & Country Club and fifth May 8 at a rescheduled conference match at Winneconne’s Lake Breeze Golf Club.
Scores in Clintonville were Waupaca (169), Ripon (170), Freedom (180), Fox Valley Lutheran (181) and Clintonville (222).
Shaun Plunkett and Logan Walters led the way with a 41, while Turner Kelly carded a 43, Ben Stone a 44 and Max Hansen a 47.
Ripon won the junior varsity meet with a 194, while Waupaca finished third with a 203. Hunter Carrick led the Comets with a 48.
Berlin won the Ridgeway meet with a 168, followed by Appleton Xavier (171), Waupaca (180), Little Chute and FVL (189) and Clintonville (231).
Kelly led the Comets with a 43, followed by Plunkett (45); and Hansen and Walters (46).
Xavier won the JV meet, while the Comets were second with a 189. Carrick led Waupaca with a 44, followed by Frankie Ellingson (46), Stone (47) and Alex Harris (52).
The Comets finished behind Xavier, Freedom, Little Chute and Winneconne at Lake Breeze with a 176. Walters and Kelly turned in Waupaca’s low round with a 43, while Hansen and Plunkett carded a 45.
Waupaca finished second in the JV competition with a score of 194. Carrick led the way with a 43.
Waupaca competed at the EVC meet May 15 at Green Bay’s Thornberry Creek Country Club and will host a Division 1 regional at 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Waupaca’s Foxfire Golf Club.
