A late comeback lifted the Weyauwega-Fremont baseball team to a 12-7 nonconference win over Iola-Scandinavia May 10.
The Indians came up with four runs in the sixth inning and four more in the seventh, but also committed nine errors in the game.
The teams went into the fifth inning tied at 3-3 after the Thunderbirds came up with a run in the second and two in the third, while W-F scored three times in the top of the third.
W-F took the lead for good with a run in the fifth and built an 8-3 lead before the T-Birds came up with three runs in the sixth to cut the deficit to 8-6.
The Indians tacked on four more runs in the top of the seventh and the T-Birds came up with a run in the bottom half of the inning.
Bryce Akey came up with two of the Indians’ six hits on the day, while Nick Wavruk led the T-Birds at the plate with three hits. Hunter Billington picked up the win on the mound and Hunter Gruenwald took the loss.
