Winchester Academy examines causes of war

Daniel O. Holland, a Plover businessman and writer, will present “Why War?” at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 10, at the Waupaca Area Public Library.

Hosted by Winchester Academy, the program is free and open to the public.

Holland’s doctoral dissertation examined humanity’s propensity for war, its root causes and the best methods for ameliorating war’s harmful effects. His systematic analysis led Holland to develop a theory of international organization.

Holland received a bachelor’s degree in political science at Kenyon College, a master’s degree from the University of Chicago and a doctorate in international relations from American University.

In his 25 years of recruiting, he has worked in a wide variety of industries – including commercial communications, process control and instrumentation, artificial intelligence, consumer electronics and military electronics.

He co-founded Holland & Associates in 1984 and is considered by many to be one of the best electrical engineering recruiters in the country. Presently an executive search consultant in Plover, he also writes fiction and poetry.

Rose Dorow, of Waupaca, is the sponsor of this event.

The next Winchester Academy program, scheduled for July 15 , features Bela Sandor on the techno-archaeology of ancient chariots.
