Clintonville artist offers design works

Creative is the best way to describe Sara Mullen-Hornung.

The graphic artist is now sharing her creative skills through a new business, Cambridge Design.

Working out of her home located at 200 Walnut St., Clintonville, Mullen-Hornung offers a variety of design services including photo restoration, illustration and photography.

She is excited to be starting the new business so she can work one-on-one with people.

“It’s exciting to come up with something creative that my customers love,” she said. “Every day is different.”

Mullen-Hornung has been designing since 1997.

She received a graphic design degree in 2000 from Western Technical College in La Crosse. She graduated from Winona State University, in Winona, Minn., in 2007 with a fine arts degree. While attending college, her specialty was in painting and illustration.

Mullen-Hornung started out as a corporate home dècor designer for WinCraft, Inc. in Winona, Minn., where she designed for all the pro sports teams including the NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL in 2000. She also worked on Olympics competitions such as Salt Lake, Athens and Bejing. She also was WinCraft’s in-house watercolor illustrator for decorative flags, rugs and clocks before moving to Wisconsin in the summer of 2008.

In 2008, Mullen-Hornung advanced to being a senior designer at The Lang Companies in Delafield, Wis. There she created home dècor products using nationally known artists’ works of art on calendars, mugs, kitchen and office stationery, gift boxes and greeting cards.

Mullen-Hornung has always been freelancing, which is her true passion. Meeting with clients and accomplishing their design needs for their businesses is her goal.

She can design anything from logo design or redesign, brochures, business cards or appointment cards, posters, large vinyl banners with grommets, magnets, newsletters, flyers, postcards, invitations (wedding, baby, anniversary or other celebrations), photo restoration/retouching, bumper stickers, drinkware, labels/decals/stickers, door hangers, scanning, pens/pencils, yard signs (election or real estate, etc.), envelopes, bulletins, NCR forms (carbon forms), letterheads, greeting cards, Christmas cards, hang tags, menus, pocket folders, rack cards, tickets, memo pads, rubber stamps, stationery, magnetic calendars, coupons, gift cards or gift certificates, and more.

She spends her spare time with her husband, Jason, and son, Eric. The family has lived in Clintonville since February.

She continues her watercolor painting for commercial publishing on coasters, backsplash tile, gift bags, clothing, night lights, stitchery kits, linens and more.
