Durrant, Sylvia L. “Grandma Toot Toot”

Sylvia L. Durrant, age 85, of Waupaca, passed away peacefully Monday, June 10, 2013 at Theda Clark in Neenah.

She was born in Cobbtown, WI on April 9, 1928 to Joseph and Frieda (Voss) Cartwright. She was united in marriage to Roger C. Durrant on March 6, 1948. He preceded her in death on March 28, 2005, just after their 57th wedding anniversary. They built the “Durrant Campsite” down by the river, where she spent a great deal of time visiting with family and friends. She was a member of Farmington Lutheran Church. Sylvia worked as a tipper for Zwicker Knitting Mills in Waupaca and later in Appleton. Before suffering her first stroke in 2007, she enjoyed bowling, playing cribbage and sheepshead, a variety of crafts, gardening and pulling weeds. Her greatest joy, however, was being Grandma.
She is survived by her son, Larry of Cobbtown, WI and daughter, Denise (Randy) Abrahamson, of Waupaca; grandchildren: Jacci (Kasey) Koch of Weyauwega, Kelly Durrant, Christina Stedman and Bradley Abrahamson, all of Waupaca; great-grandchildren: Jakob Stedman, Olivia and Lilli Rice, Aida Zeinert and Brennin Koch. She is further survived by two sisters, Irene Sauberlich of Birmingham, AL and Josephine Nelson of Amherst; special niece, Susie Nelson; sister-in-law, Elaine Cartwright of Waupaca; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; brother, LaVern Cartwright; sister, Bernice (Lee) Sauberlich; brother-in-law, Howerde Sauberlich and niece, Judy Schroeder.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2013 at the Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca, with Rev. Mark Sabin officiating. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be with her husband in Sheridan Cemetery.
