Hansen, Edna Emma

Edna Emma Hansen, age 98, of Weyauwega, went to her heavenly home on Monday, June 17, 2013.

She was born on December 17, 1914 in Lanark, daughter of the late Otto and Hulda (Schuelke) Kaminske. She was baptized January 31, 1915 at the Evangelical Lutheran Friedenkirche in Amherst by Rev. Reul and then confirmed at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Weyauwega by Rev. Max Hensel in 1928. On February 15, 1933, she married Max Hansen in Waupaca. They celebrated 70 years of marriage together until Max passed away on April 12, 2003. Edna and Max lived in New York City for a year, then Milwaukee ten years, before moving to a farm in the Town of Waupaca in 1943. They farmed until moving to Weyauwega in the early 1980’s. Edna loved to play cards with family and friends, and also taking care of her flowers. She was a longtime member of the Waupaca County Association for Home & Community Education, and a member of St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Weyauwega.

She is survived by her children: Max (ReuEllyn) Hansen Jr., Tomah; Karen (Roger) Murphy, Richfield; Judith (Daniel) Otto, Colgate; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Tony Resch and sister-in-law Elaine Kaminske. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by six siblings.

The Christian Funeral for Edna will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Weyauwega with Rev. Dennis Lemke officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Weyauwega. A visitation for Edna will be held directly at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. The Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Weyauwega is serving the family.
