A 28-year-old Clintonville man was found inside his burning vehicle near his residence shortly before 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 9.
According to the Clintonville Police Department, the mother of Justin Ratliff awakened to find her son’s vehicle on fire. When she went outside, she found him unconscious in the car.
She removed Ratliff, from the burning vehicle, then doused the flames with a fire extinguisher and a garden hose.
An ambulance was paged out immediately after the mother called 911. Responding officers found Ratliff still unresponsive andin need of medical attention.
He was transported to New London Family Medical Center by ambulance and was later flown to St. Mary’s Milwaukee Burn Center by ThedaStar.
Ratliff’s condition is unknown at this time.
The fire chief and police evidence technician were called to the scene.
The state fire marshal’s office is currently overseeing the investigation with police and fire officers.
