Faulks, Dona L.

Dona L. Faulks, age 98, of Manawa, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Whistling Pines N in Waupaca.

She was born on September 21, 1914 in the Town of St. Lawrence, Waupaca County, daughter of the late Jessie and Hanna (Knutson) Rice. She attended Ogdensburg Grade School, Little Wolf High School, and U.W. Stevens Point. She taught in Waupaca, Marathon, and Washington Counties, retiring from teaching after 40 years. On May 17, 1940, she married Herbert Bartz. He preceded her in death in 1955. She then married Rexford T. Faulks on June 13, 1962. He preceded her in death in 1969. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Stratford, Fredonia, and the former First Baptist Church in Ogdensburg. She was also a member of the Helping Hand, Garden Club and the Retired Teachers. She has resided at Whistling Pines N in Waupaca the past eleven years.

She is survived by two sisters, Georgia (Leroy) Wiegert, Ogdensburg; Charlotte Weber, Manitowoc; eight nieces and six nephews, many great nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Ardyce Rice, Gladys Faulks, and Ardyce Faulks; other relatives and friends. Besides her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Janet (John) Redenius, Ruby (Gaylord) Johnson, and Mable (Leroy) Anderson; also two brothers, Minor Rice and Jesse Rice; three brothers-in-law, Oliver Faulks, Sydney Faulks and Edward Weber.

The funeral service for Dona will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Ogdensburg with Rev. Timothy Lofgren officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Stratford. A visitation for Dona will be held directly at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church in Ogdensburg or Little Wolf Schools, Manawa.
