Iola-Scandinavia softball players Jane Oligney, Kylie Johnson, Brianne Huettner and Brooke Phillips recently competed in state and national softball tournaments as members of the Plover-Whiting Youth Associated 16U travel team.
The team, consisting of mostly Stevens Point and Plover area athletes, participated in the ASA state level tournament July 11-14 in Wausau and placed second out of 35 teams.
The Plover 16U team then traveled to Pekin, Ill., for the ASA Northern (B) National Tournament andfinished in ninth-place.
Plover’s only losses were 3-2 to the eventual third-place team, the Columbus X-Plosion, and 8-4 to the sixth-place team, the Wyoming Twisters, in 10 innings.
The team ended its season with a 28-8 record.
All four players will be juniors at Iola-Scandinavia High School.
