?Soup in Art Bowls? at depot

The Waupaca Community Arts Center’s third annual “Soup in Art Bowls” will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Waupaca Railroad Depot.

The center’s artists have been busy painting bowls, and finished bowls arrive there almost every day.

Some of the bowls have flowers on them, while others have birds, patterns or solid colors.

People are visiting the arts center, at 200 N. Main St., to choose and purchase bowls.

Those who buy bowls in advance should bring them to the Oct. 5 event, where they will be able to choose a soup. Bowls may also be purchased at the railroad depot on the day of “Soup in Art Bowls.”

This year’s soup line-up includes two vegetarian soups and two meaty soups.

The choices will be gumbo (made by the art center’s in-house Orleanian), cheesy broccoli (from Sister’s Fine Deli), beet borscht and chicken veggie.

A bakery roll and chocolate dessert will be included. Coffee, soda and water will be available.

Serving will begin at 11 a.m., and the cost for a bowl and meal is $20. The cost for a child accompanied by a paying adult is $5. The child’s soup will be in a paper bowl.

People may also take extra soup home for $6.50.

The event is being held the same day as the Hidden Studios tour, and organizers encourage people to take a soup break at the railroad depot, which is located at 525 Oak St.
