Falcons soar to big win over Wolves

The defending state champion Amherst Falcons soared to a 55-6 win over the Manawa Wolves on Friday, Sept. 27.

Both teams scored in the first quarter, but Amherst found the end zone a couple more times than Manawa. By the end of the first frame, the Falcons led 21-6.

Amherst added 14 points in the second quarter and 14 more in the third quarter. They finished their scoring by adding six points in the fourth quarter, while the defense held Manawa scoreless throughout the final three quarters of play.

Manawa’s defense allowed 114 passing yards and two touchdowns, while also allowing 253 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns.

The Wolves netted 125 yards, but none came through the air. The Amherst defense forced one fumble and recorded two sacks.

The Wolves will play at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, as they celebrate Homecoming.
