John A. “Jack” Pagel Jr., Waupaca, WI, age 69, passed away very unexpectedly on Saturday, October 12, 2013.
He was born on June 5, 1944 in Iola, WI, the son of John A. and Mabel S. (Marquard) Pagel. He married Diane Borchert on September 8, 1962 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Iola, WI.
John is survived by his wife, Diane; three children: Rhonda (Kurt) Glodowski, Rick (Deb) Pagel, and Jason (Lori) Pagel, all of Waupaca; three grandchildren: Derrick Pagel, Cassie Glodowski, and Emma Pagel; a brother, Donald (June) Pagel of Winter Haven, FL, and three sisters: Mavis (Harlen) Olson of Chapman, KS, Elaine Pederson, and Sharon McKay, both of Waupaca. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. John was preceded in death by his grandson, Austin Glodowski, and his parents.
John had been employed for the Waupaca Foundry for 44 1/2 years, retiring in 2007 as a Hydrostatic Pressure Tester. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and an occasional trip to a Casino. He had worked hard to provide a good life for his wife, children, and grandchildren, whom he adored. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca.
A funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 11:00 am, with the Reverend Dr. Charles Tews, officiating. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Amherst, WI. A visitation will be held at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca on Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00 pm, and again on Friday morning from 9:30 – 11:00 am at the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in memory of John “Jack” A. Pagel, Jr. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
