Bertha “Bertie” Marie Welzenbach (nee Pederson), has gone before us to be reunited with her parents who first welcomed her into this world on April 6, 1946. With great sorrow we said goodbye on October 12, 2013, already missing Bertie’s charm, laughter, humor and loving kindness; but are thankful she is now at peace.
In all best ways, Bertie was a kid all her life. She loved to play cards and board games with friends and family, was often silly, and took special joy in cajoling her granddaughters out for sledding fun. Bertie was a truly caring person, both in her personal life and in her career as an LPN. She and her husband enjoyed traveling together; she also loved canoeing, reading and enjoying time with her loved ones.
Bertie is survived by husband, David; sons, Craig (Sandra) and Darrell; daughters, Dawn (Kasey) Voss, Wendy (Ralph) Lee, and Cheri (Scott) Ritter; granddaughters, Evan Marie Voss, Ingrid and Greta Ritter; brother, Oliver (Pat) Pederson and several nephews, nieces and precious friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Palma (Brubakken) and father Severin; brothers: Luther, Vernon, Morris and Bill; and friends; all who will welcome her home.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Bertie will be on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Maple Crest Funeral Home. Pastor Bidal Torrez will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. The family would like to thank ThedaCare Hospice, with special thanks to Sina and Marie.
