Speakers needed for OWI Impact Panel

As part of their sentence, convicted drunken drivers are often required to attend one of the county’s quarterly OWI Impact Panels.

The speakers are people whose lives have been impacted by drinking and driving.

They may be victims who have been seriously injured or have lost a loved one to a drunken driver. Or they may themselves have been drunken drivers who caused injury to others.

What the speakers have in common is a willingness to share their personal experiences of the negative consequences of drinking and driving.

The program’s goal is to deter future drunken driving incidents.

Waupaca County is currently seeking volunteers to speak once or twice a year at the OWI Impact Panel.

Anyone interested in participating in the program as a speaker is asked to contact the Waupaca County Victim-Witness Office by calling 715-258-6445 or writing 811 Harding St., Waupaca, WI 54981.
