Sarah Thiel, of Tigerton, has been hired as business manager for Iola-Scandinavia School District.
Thiel is currently the business manager for the Tigerton School District. She will transition to the new position within a month, according to I-S District Administrator David Dyb.
The I-S School Board approved Thiel’s contract at its Oct. 14 meeting. The board approved a 2013-14 salary of $75,000, prorated to her start date.
“We interviewed three very good candidates,” said Board President Charlie Wasrud.
Some board members were concerned that Thiel might decide to remain in Tigerton.
According to Dyb, Thiel has already agreed to a contract with the I-S School District.
He hopes the new business manager will be available for the special meeting at 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, when the school board sets the district’s tax levy for 2014.
Dyb noted that Thiel has already looked at the I-S School District’s projected budget.
“She told me our mill rate should be less than what we approved in July,” he said.
Dyb explained the drop in mill rate is due in part to an increase in property values within the district.
